• 초록
Driving a low-carbon transition requires decarbonizing the entire value-chain. This seminar provides a roadmap of the corporate decarbonization journey. We will begin with the core building blocks of climate action: corporate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting. We will examine how organizational emissions are categorized into Scopes 1 (direct operations), 2 (purchased electricity), and the notoriously complex Scope 3 (indirect upstream and downstream value chains). Building on these fundamentals, the discussion will cover how organizations set scientifically valid, enforceable targets under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), transitioning from vague "net-zero" marketing to rigorous, science-aligned decarbonization pathways.
The lecture will then narrow its focus to the product level, exploring Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs). We will dissect why measuring the exact environmental impact of an individual product?from raw material extraction to end-of-life?is the ultimate frontier for manufacturing and export-reliant economies like South Korea, especially in light of emerging global trade regulations like the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Finally, we will address the structural bottleneck of this ecosystem: the massive primary data gaps and computational friction inherent in tracking millions of supply chain variables. The seminar concludes by demonstrating how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is deployed not as a replacement for foundational carbon accounting, but as an essential scaling mechanism?automating predictive data gaps, resolving supply chain opaque zones, and rapidly accelerating the calculations required to make real-time, low-carbon industrial decisions.
